Privacy policy
This policy explains how Carmello & John Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales (no. 17159080), registered office 4th Floor Office, 205 Regent Street, London, W1B 4HB (“we”, trading as Carmello Prints) collects and uses your personal data when you use carmelloprints.com. We are the data controller. Contact us about anything here at hello@carmelloprints.com.
What we collect
- Order details: your name, email address, delivery address, and the design you create (the place, date, time and wording for your map).
- Payment: card payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Stripe also sends your card receipt email.
- Place search: the text you type into the place search is sent, via our server, to the Photon geocoding service run by Komoot GmbH in Germany, to find the coordinates for your sky. Please do not type your full home address into the search: a town or village is all the map needs.
- Email signups: if you leave your email for our occasional letters, we store the address and where on the site you signed up, until you unsubscribe.
- Enquiries: anything you include when you email us.
- Technical: basic server logs needed to run and secure the site.
No cookies, no trackers
carmelloprints.com sets no cookies and uses no analytics or advertising trackers. If you buy, Stripe’s own checkout pages use their cookies to process the payment securely. Our web fonts are delivered by Google Fonts, which may receive your device’s IP address as part of serving the fonts.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To take payment and fulfil and deliver your order (performance of our contract with you).
- To answer your enquiries and provide support (our legitimate interests).
- To send occasional emails only where you have asked us to (consent), and you can opt out at any time.
- To meet our legal and accounting obligations.
Who receives your data
- Stripe (payment processing): handles your card payment and sends your card receipt email.
- Prodigi Group (print fulfilment): receives the recipient name, delivery address and email address so your order can be printed and posted.
- Cloudflare (hosting): runs the site and stores our order records, which we keep for about two years and then delete.
- Komoot GmbH (Photon geocoding, Germany): receives the text you type into the place search so we can find coordinates for your map.
We do not sell your data, and we share nothing beyond what each of these services needs to do its job.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept for about two years, then deleted. Email signups are kept until you unsubscribe. Payment records held by Stripe follow the retention that tax law requires.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal data, to object to processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email hello@carmelloprints.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
